Another mediocre month for mini reviews – not bad, but it could have been better. Here are my mini reviews for this August.
These Rebel Waves by Sarah Raasch
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Release Date: August 7, 2018

I’m calling it now, I’ve been “reading” this for over a week but I haven’t picked this book up, or even really thought about it in days. I was really intrested in the premise and I love that colonialism and politics are explored in the story, but it’s just not for me. I don’t like or understand the magic system and the workdbuilding was lackluster. Vex was really the only character I cared about, but he’s not enough to keep me going with this because it’s putting me into a major slump that Ithink only a reread can save me from.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
Not With the Band by Kelli Warner
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Release Date: May 5, 2017
This was such a perfect palette cleanser book. One of those that’s fun and dramatic and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I was struggling reading 2 otehr books, but I flew threw this one and it made me want to read more. This story has really got it all – family drama, romance, sports, high school politics, and music – but it didn’t feel overcrowded. Kassidy just lives a well-rounded life. I had a lot of fun with this book and I’m glad I picked it up!

So a better time than last month, but not as good as others. I think I’m getting bck to a good reading space, and I might have mroe time in the next few weeks so I’m exciting to be reading again and it feels good.
Awesome reviews!
