Gilmoreathon 2019 | A Gilmore Girls Readathon TBR

Hello everyone and happy birhday to me! And what better way to kick off my birthday month that a readalong inspire by one of my favorite shows: Gilmore Girls!

I was scrolling on instagram and came across this readathon and knew I needed to participate. The prompts are all inspired by Gilmore Girls and it just made me so happy. So first I’ll run down some stats for the readathon in case you wanted to join along, then I’ll share my book pics for the prompts!

What: A Gilmore Girls Insprired Readathon

When: October 1 – 15

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between)Group Book: Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (And Everything In Between) by Lauren Graham (I highly recommend the audiobook – it’s fantastic!)

Prompts:

  • A book with a school setting in honor of Yale & Chilton
  • A mother/daughter relationship book in honor of our favorite Gilmore Girls!
  • Any cozy book set during winter/fall in honor of Stars Hallow
  • A book with a complicated love interest in honor of Rory, Dean, and Jess (#Literati)
  • A book by an Asian author or has Asian representation in honor of the best best friend a girl could have: Lane Kim
  • The next book in a series you haven’t finished yet in honor of A Year in the Life
  • A book with food on the cover or as a major plot point in honor of Luke’s Cafe

The goal is to accomplish as many prompts as you can/want. And feel free to double (or tripple) up prompts for one book!

My TBR

School Setting | The Map From There to Here by Emory Lord

The Map from Here to There (The Start of Me and You, #2)

Senior year struggles I’m sure Rory could relate too – this post happily ever after story seems like it will be a quick and fun read!

Mother/Daughter Relationship | The How & The Why by Cynthia Hand

The How & the Why

This is written in 2 perspectives: Cassandra a young girl who was given up for adoption & letters from the pregnant teen who gave her up. It that doesn’t sound like a compelling mother/daughter relationship, I don’t know what does.

Cozy Fall | A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1)

A Beauty and the Beast-inspired story with a cursed Autumn, this sounds like a perfect fall fantasy.

Complicated Love Interest | The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles, #2)

So I kinda fell in love with this series earlier this year and this is giving me the excuse to finally continue with it. I loved not know which perpective belonged to which character: the prince or the assassin. And I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Book by an Asian Author & Next Book in a Series | Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake

Two Dark Reigns (Three Dark Crowns, #3)

I figured the least I could do since I didn’t have any audiobooks to listen to, I could double up on a promt with the same book. And this is a series I need to get caught up on, especially now that the last book has come out.

Foodie Book | Kill All Happies by Rachel Cohn

Kill All Happies

This was probably the prompt that was hardest for me, but I think this will be an easy contemporary to break up some of my fantasy choices.
