Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Release Date: April 7, 2020
DNF @52%
My first DNF of the year happened way quicker this year than last, but this book was way too slow and way too long for me to keep reading and be even remotely engaged. I thought this would be a light romance with some enemies to lovers vibes and a fun time would be had by all, but the story just dragged and somehow managed to feel repetative when not that much was happening. The characters were fine, but nothing really stood out about them to make me want to continue. Here’s hoping this isn’t a 2020 trend.

Well Met by Jen DelLuca
Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: September 3, 2019
So this was adorable on many levels and I loved each one of them. Obviously, and probably most importantly, the romance immediately hooked me. Emily and Simon have great chemistry and their relationship progresses in such a satisfying way, plus I loved seeing how each characters grew and evolved throughout the story. The town and Renascence fair were charming and had the most perfect setting for this story. And I’m always here for strong family moments that grounds everything and we definitely get that with Emily helping her sister after a horrible car accident earlier in the summer. Overall this was such a fun, flirty book that pulled me in immediately.

I really need to read Well Met, partly because of my love for contemporary romance and partly because everyone I know who has read it has really enjoyed it! I think I’m going to treat myself to a copy on my next bookstore trip.
