Recent Reads Mini Reviews

I haven’t been in the most reading-type of mood lately because I’ve been marathon listening to podcasts lately instead. Still a fun time, but a different kind of productivity. But here are some of the few book I’ve read lately.

It Sounded Better in My Head by Nina Kenwood

It Sounded Better in My Head

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: April 7, 2020

This was such an incredibly quick read – I couldn’t put it down. It was compulsively readable and just so much fun. It’s filled with genuine friendships and awkward dates and I couldn’t have been happier. I really enjoyed seeing Natalie and her friendships with Zach and Lucy. Natalie is such a resilient character that you can’t help but cheer for her – she’s grow from her awkward puberty phase and is still emotionally scarred from the physical changes, and while the fears and insecurities effect her, her does her best to not let them define her all the time. This was just a fun story and so easy to read.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Release Date: March 14, 2006

DNF @ pg. 173

This wasn’t bad by any means, it just not at all keeping my interest right now. I’ve liked what I read so far, but I put the book down 2 weeks ago to listen to a podcast and haven’t really thought of it since. I’ve even read other books between and this one still just isn’t gripping me. It’s definitely one I’m going to give another go in the future because I’ve heard nothing but good things but it;s just not what I want to be reading right now.

What are some of the book you’ve read recently? Are you currently fighting a slump also?
