If We Were Us by K.L. Walther

If We Were Us

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2.5 Stars)
Release Date: June 2, 2020

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this story, I just really lost interest the more I read. I was so excited to see a story with a platonic soulmate in it – and I loved the relationship between Sage and Charlie, but even really liking the idea of the relationship, I didn’t quite connect with the characters the way I wanted too. The characters never felt real to me -there was an exaggerated outlandishness that made the story feel unattainable. And even my love of boarding school books didn’t help because it all just felt so out of reach. I only started to see the relationship develop between Charlie and Luke and Sage and Nick respectively, and while I liked them they weren’t enough to keep me going.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Say Yes Summer by Lindsey Roth Culli

Say Yes Summer

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5 stars)
Release Date: May 12, 2020

What a perfectly entertaining (and enjoyable) summer romcom. It sorta reminded me of Booksmart in the beginning – overachiever regretting missing out on the high school experience and decides to broaden horizons the summer before college, so if you’re looking for something to remind you of a great movie, look no further. Rachel has a very eventful summer after taking a self-help book to heart and starts to get outside of her comfort zone (and juggle 2 guys affections). There was a lot of really cute moments and I was happy to see her reconnect with an old friend who had drifted apart. Say Yes Summer is a sweet summer read that is just a lot of fun.I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

First & Then by Emma Mills

First & Then

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Release Date: October 13, 2015

I thought the family moments in the story were really what shined. Devon and Foster’s growing relationship was so sweet and I loved seeing them together. The romances worked and I liked how they slowly built over the course of the story, so nothing ever felt rushed or forced. The smalltown, Friday Night Lights football vibes were excellent and I was so here for it. Star runningback Ezra is a great love interest.

What are some of the book you’ve read recently? Are you currently fighting a slump also?
