Book Tag | The Audiobook Tag

Another Sunday, another book tag.

After having a lack-luster October, audiobooks have really helped me get back into reading so far this month! I saw this over at Confessions of a Pinay Bookaholic, (who did a mashup of 2 audiobook tags, but I’m going to separate them out) so make sure you go check out their blog too. The tag was created by Books and Things on YouTube, so check out their video as well!

1. Have you always listened to audiobooks, and if not, when did you begin?

I started listening to audiobooks, probably 2 years ago now. I started them to reread some of my favorite books – which was the perfect segue to the format.

2. What is your favourite audiobook?

Daisy Jones & The Six

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Narration by: Full Cast (21 narrators)

The full cast combined with the oral history format makes this a perfect audiobook for me. I’ve listened to it 3 times I think. It’s something I can easily turn to if I’m in a slump.

3. What is your least favourite audiobook?

The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1)

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan, Narration by Christopher Guetig

This is pretty consistently disliked. The narrator, unfortunately makes Magnus come across as very whiny

4. What do you think is the different in experience between reading a physical book and listening to an audiobook?

I think it’s easier for me to get distracted while reading an audiobook, because if the story isn’t holding me, I’ll zone out and miss part of the story.

5. How and when do you find you listen to audiobooks?

ALL THE TIME. But seriously, I’ll listen to audiobooks doing anything and nothing. But most often driving, chores, and sometimes when I’m just sitting outside.

6. What style/genre do you prefer on audiobook?

I’m honestly not too picky about which genres I’ll listen to on audio – I think they all have their own merit. I love doing romances because they’re easy to listen too – I don’t have to worry about complex worldbuilding or magic systems. I love listening to mysteries and thrillers because it’s like getting told a spooky campfire story. I think fantasy is my least go-to in audio format, but I love re-reading fantasy stories on audio.

7. Give some recommendations for audiobooks.

Because I’m in the middle of making a new audiobook recommendation post, for now I’m just going to link my most recent one from last year!
