Recent Reads Mini Reviews

More mini reviews from books I’ve enjoyed to varying degrees over the last few weeks.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

The Golden Couple

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5 Stars)
Release Date: March 8, 2022

A fun and quick read. I liked that we got different POVs and the story was fast paced and so easy to listen to. I liked the premise and thought the dynamics (and secrets) between all the characters was compelling and kept me listening. The tension was also well don for me – though the action was a bit spaced out, I was still engaged.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

In a Holidaze

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: October 6, 2020

I liked the insular feeling with the close knit families who’ve known each other forever and all the imbedded history. I think the rewind/Groundhog day element was perfectly utilized – enough times to notice a pattern and make changes, but not too many to be repetitive. The romance was cute and I thought this was a perfect wintery read.

Boyfriend by Sarina Bowen

Boyfriend (Moo U #1)

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Release Date: October 12, 2021

A cute, short, college sports romance. I love hockey romances, and while this one didn’t really do anything new, it did a lot of things I love – including fake dating- so I had a really good time. This college romance is light on the actual classes, so if that’s your preferred ration, this will be perfect for you.

Throttled by Lauren Asher

Throttled (Dirty Air, #1)

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: January 9, 2020

Steamy, quick read and a fun start to a companion series I definitely plan on continuing.

I didn’t know what to expect from a F1 romance because I’m pretty unfamiliar with the sport – so I liked getting glimpses of info from Maya’s vlogs – I was learning alongside her viewers. I have to say I was really happy with the chemistry and the emotional development over the course of the story. In the beginning, I assumes Noah was your typical brooding bad boy with a chip on their shoulder who might thaw a bit, but I really grew to love him a lot and him journey. He recognizes his shortcomings was wants to improve. A great start to this serie!
