After reading virtually zero fantasy last year, my only real 2022 resolution was to read more fantasy, so for my first book of the year, I started Zodiac Academy.
According to the authors, “Zodiac Academy is a Dark Bully M/F Paranormal Romance series which follows Twins Tory and Darcy Vega who find out they’re Fae and have to learn to harness their power while trying to defend their throne from the four Heirs who want to claim it in their place.” It was fun and addicting series that I binged the first five books in January without stopping.
There are two other series set in the same world as Zodiac Academy, but each series can be read as standalones. But if you’re loving the world, the magic, and the different creatures, there’s plenty more for you to enjoy.

This was such an unbelievable addicting and fun read. It was just what I needed to start the year off. While I do think the world building overall is a littler lacking- we know zero history and little politics, and the pacing is quite rushed at times with time jumps and scene cuts. I just missed reading paranormal stories and the dark academy and Tory and Darcy being thrown into this world, trying to learn their magic, and having to contend with the Heirs was a fun ride. I Still have quite a few questions I want the answers too, so this series has me hooked right now and I want to keep reading.

This series continues to be a fun time and that’s exactly what I want from it so I have yet to be disappointed. I really liked getting a few additional POV chapters to help develop some of the characters outside of Tory and Darcy. We also get to see a bit more of the world, and learn more about our foes, which is good to build tension. But I do think the pacing remains off – it both rushed at time and at others it seems like pure filler. I hope we finally start getting some answers to some of our major questions in the next book. And the romances and worldbuilding start to develop further.

Another fun installment in the series. I liked getting more POVs again and seeing some of the interpersonal develop. And we did have some slight mythology/worldbuilding occur, but I do think the pacing continues to be a bit all over the place.

I really enjoyed this installment – everyone’s relationship developed and I really loved seeing all the different interactions and ways the dynamics changed. I feel like we finally got some stakes and tension that was lacking in earlier books and the romance is really hooking me now. This series is so fun and entertaining.

Once again, I think I was most drawn to the characters and their relationships in this over the worldbuilding and plot machinations – though we do get some good reveals that I wasn’t quite expecting. I’m excited to see where the series goes and continue having a entertaining time.
I’m planning on finishing the books currently out in the series soon, so be on the lookout for part II of my review!
Until next time,
