It gave the vibes.

I loved the small town setting. I loved the nature and hiking. I loved Aurora and Rhodes’s slow developing friendship. Amos is an adorable shy kid and I loved the entire familial situation in this book. I’m almost always a fan of music and celebrity in books, and while it was very much a backplot in this, but I enjoyed it here.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: November 10, 2015

What an addicting read. I love the quick pacing with the story jumping to the same day year after year, so we see the characters get to know each other and fall in love in snapshots. But the story never felt rushed which I appreciated. Fate is a four letter word that has dragged Ben and Fallon into each other’s lives and we see them being entangled, fighting each other, and themselves as the years go by.

I was not the biggest fan of the characters in this. I found Alex and Will to be both incredibly
frustrating. They are both very poor communicators and that leads to a big of a rocky start for their relationship – and for most of their interaction to be honest. I didn’t feel their chemistry or their backstory even though they are supposed to have known each other for years. And I really struggled with Alex’s motivations for seeking out her ex boyfriends, it just didn’t seem to make sense for her character. Overall, it was a bit of a letdown.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kann

The Romantic Agenda

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: April 12, 2022

I really loved this story. Claire Kann continues to make amazing ace-centered romance stories and I will pick up every one. I loved Joy and Malcolm’s long-standing friendship and how much it meant to the both of them. And while I didn’t love Malcolm’s new girlfriend Summer initially, she did grow on me. Fox was adorable and he and Joy had some many cute moments, I actually squealed out loud. The actual romance did develop fairly quickly because this weekend trip away is only a few days, but I can suspend my disbelief for it. There was a lot of meaningful conversations between all the characters and it didn’t lean into being too teachy. Overall, I had a great time.
