More mini reviews from books I’ve enjoyed to varying degrees over the last few weeks.
For Butter or Worse by Erin La Rosa
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Release Date: July 22, 2022
I just wasn’t feeling this at all. I didn’t get any chemistry between Nina and Leo and we just got to their fake dating plotline before I ended up giving up on the book. This is primarily a fake dating story, with a dash of foodie goodness sprinkled in. It felt like it was taking too long to get the plot moving and actually have the characters talking and at this point, I’ve read so many cooking related romances, this one just faded into the background.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5 Stars)
Release Date: January 11, 2022
This was a cute and quick romance. Ari and Russell are both getting fed up with the toxic enviroment created by their divorced bosses at the new station, so they pair up to scheme the two back together and maybe find their own love along the way. I loved Ari and Russell – they were just super cute and I loved Russell’s daughter. The plotting was fun and innocent and provided great plot movement and laughs.
Hide by Kiersten White
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Release Date: May 24, 2022
So for a book with a deadly game at it’s center, I was expecting stakes, tension, and excitement. But Hide is a slow moving story that builds on a town and (too many) character’s backstory to drive the plot through exposition instead of action. I didn’t care about a single characters and could really only differentiate a few of them. I wanted a haunting setting that would permeate the story and give me chills, but the abandoned amazement park was mostly just drab.

I have yet to see a positive review of Hide, which is so sad because the premise sounds amazing!

The premise sounds perfect but the book is so boring. It was such a disappointment 😞
