This was really cute and you really get a lot about the characters in a very short amount of time. There was a lot of great humor and and development of plot. I had a great time and will definitely read the full novel that this family shows up in soon!
Dune by Frank Herbert

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

This was fine but I know it’s not a story that’s going to stay with me.
Good things:
The audio book is fantastic. Very cinematic with different voice actors and effects. Really immerses you into the world and action (though this is more a discussion/conflict/resolution book vs action book)
Established world and political system (even if we don’t learn everything about it in book 1, it’s clear Herbert has a plan)
Not for Me:
The characters were all bland and many kinda blended together.
The biggest problem was the writing style – the inner dialogue for the characters were so repetitive and made the reading experience kinda clunky.

This was cute and unexpected. I had a little bit of trouble actually getting into the story in the beginning because Phoebe was a little too suspicious and on edge about serial killers. But I really warmed up to her once we got to see her interact with her brother, Cooper, and her neighbor Sam. All the relationships were so great that it helped me fall more in love with the characters. There was a lot of great dialogue and so much humor and references that brought life and love to the story. The ending was a bit rushed but I like where everything was headed so I’m no too mad at it.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

This was a really engaging story. I liked that there was a bunch of characters and different timeliness and you have to follow different threads that lead to the same place. The audiobook was a great choice and I loved most thing about this. My biggest issue was with some of the reveals near the end. They were a little unsatisfying but at least felt relatively well plotted.
