First Lines Fridays #132

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Before she died, my grandma taught me a lot of valuable lessons. The first and foremost was that even the shittiest day could be improved by a hot cup of coffee and something sweet on the side.
I was testing the limits of that lesson, and had been for about the last six months.

Wait for It by Karla Sorensen

After loving the first book in this series at the end of last year, I’ve been binging the rest of the series over the past week and having a great time.

Goodreads Synopsis
You know what I don’t have time for? The brooding, dark-eyed former love of my life showing up when my life is finally settling down.I don’t have time for Hunter Buchanan and that intense look in his eyes. The way he loved me so perfectly all those years ago.

I’m the one who asked him to leave back then, my attempt at saving him from the chaos of my screwed up family.

I didn’t expect him back in Green Valley, looking better than before and with an empty ring finger. And I definitely didn’t expect him to still be in love with me.
I don’t have time for the things I feel around him, or how amazing it is when he touches me. Most of all, for the broken heart I’ll have if I have to say goodbye again. I survived him leaving once before, but I don’t think I can do it again.

So there’s only one thing I can make time for… staying away from Hunter Buchanan.

Until next time,
