Recent Reads Mini Reviews

More mini reviews from books I’ve enjoyed to varying degrees over the last few weeks.

Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Release Date: August 23, 2022

This book had the unfortunate luck of me being in the middle of it during a TS album drop, so it took me over a week to read this and I didn’t pick it up for days. I usually enjoy a sports romance to some degree, so I at least still enjoyed this. I did have some trouble with Nate and Stassie, I thought their relationship was a bit rushed. And feel like I never really got to know them as individual characters.

Batter of Wits by Karla Sorensen

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5 Stars)
Release Date: April 21, 2020

It was so nice being back in this world. The Love at First Sight series has been a success for me and I enjoyed being back in Green Valley – it’s a rich small town setting with a host of great supporting characters. While Grace is new to town, and skeptical of the Buchanan family love curse, I thought how the ‘curse’/instant reaction to Tucker were fun and you could immediately feel something between the two. I do think the story was a touch too fast paced for me to really get the development I wanted between the two of them, but I still had a good time.

A Deadly Inside Scoop by Abby Collette

Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Release Date: May 12, 2020

DNF @45%

I just wasn’t feeling this. The pacing is slow forw and not much J has happened yet in the story. And while I do like the family involvement in the story, the mystery is mostly lackluster and boring.

Steal My Magnolia by Karla Sorensen

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5 Stars)
Release Date: February 9, 2021

Another cute installment. I love that each couple and story feel unique. And Magnolia and Grady have great chemistry and a nice build to their relationship. And I really loved Magnolia – she’s determined, headstrong, brave, and not scared to be vulnerable.
