“Everything’s a game, Avery Grambs. The only thing we get to decide in this life is if we play to win.”

This was such a fun and fast paced story, I could not stop. While it is a mystery story, the games and clues aspect of the story were the highlight for me. But now I can wait until September to read the sequel.

The Inheritance Games follows Avery Grambs, who is unexpectedly left an inheritance from a billionaire she’s never met. To collect the cash, she must live a year in Hawthorne House – filled with secrets, passageways, and puzzles, as well as the disinherited family.

This story very much falls in line with Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ previous works, so if you’ve enjoyed her past books then I think you’ll have no problem quickly falling into Hawthorne House and being swept away in the mystery and questions along with Avery. There’s quick dialogue, fast action, and sparks of chemistry between Avery and a few of the Hawthorne family members. The story flies by and you’ll be begging for more pages when you reach the end.
